Qantas, Paraguay, Greece Portugal

Good Morning to you,

Australia Qantas still in an up roar.

South America. Things heating up. Brazil had a two day airport strike last Thursday and Friday. Information from Brazil is hard to get correct/ find. If any of you have any contacts over there there let us know.
Paraguay airport unions have decided to strike for an absurdly whopping 10 days starting Friday 28 October. Greece Greek ferry strike has been extended. to finish 6am Tuesday. Another general strike will be called, no date set. Tomorrow, Tuesday, 24 hour public transport strike not sure if taxi will be in on that. France As of today, still on.
Air France flight attendants to strike Saturday
29 October to Wednesday 2 November.

Italy
November 7, 2011 Airport staff Linate and Malpensa
4 hours only from 3:00 to 7:00am now 10am to 2pm?

Italian rail strike, 9pm, Saturday, 26 November, 2011. 24 hours, ending 9pm Sunday evening.

Local public transport strike, 24 hours, industry
November 26, 2011. (Same as trains)

Portugal Unions demonstrations and labor action planned for 20-27 October.
Portuguese general strike planned for same date as last year Thursday Nov 24.

Israeli general strike 1 November, 2011 will effect ports (cruise ships?) airports.

Canada
Air Canada flight attendants issue not over with. Arbitration will have results by or before Nov 7.
Toronto public transportation starting Monday 10/24 extra cars on road, taxi shortage.

UK
Best bring toilet seat cover and own TP. Virgin Trains West Coast Main Line cleaners will strike October 28, the cleaners will refuse to empty train effluent tanks, or refill fresh-water tanks, between 6pm on November 4 and 5.59pm on November 6. I don't know if I'd want to take a night train.

U.S
Discount airline, Spirit Airlines flight attendants vote overwhelmingly for strike. They have been angry for years. An airline strike in the U.S can take months to come to fruition. Majour player Caribbean and south America.

Florida
Palm Beach airport had a taxi strike this week. Not sure if that issue is over with.

Qantas still at it and Greece very bad week

Morning
Qantas still full of industrial action. Greece
This week a general strike is planned. 48 hours. 19 and 20 October Wednesday and Thursday. Greek air traffic controllers will strike Wednesday 19 and Thursday
20 October 2011 from hour of 00.01 Wednesday until 24.00 Thursday local.

Also joining in Greek seamen, all ferries will strike. From 6am Monday 17 October to 6am Wednesday 19 October. Will take a while to get ferries back to normal.
Telecommunications will be joining in on 19 Oct.
18 -19 Oct bank employees on strike. Bring cash ATM will be empty. You may find museums and archaeological sites closed.
Proastiakos suburban railway to strike from Tuesday-Thursday.

France
Air France flight attendants to strike Saturday
29 October to Wednesday 2 November.

Germany
German air traffic control issue. Last we knew was the union were mulling the deal over. Most newspapers are saying issue is over with. Worth keeping beady eye on it for another week or so.

Italy
October 18, 2011 Meridian Fly flight attendants 4 hour strike 10-2pm (who takes them?)

Friday, October 21, 2011 Italian rail strike, FS, 8 hour rail strike from 9am to 5pm.

November 7, 2011 Airport staff Linate and Malpensa

German, French, Greece and Egyptian ATC

Morning Monday morning headache for ya.

Massive airport disruptions this week.
Air traffic controllers have been flexing muscle.

Egypt, Cairo Int. Go slow.

German ATC could have all out strike starting Wednesday. This is going to be a big one. Just the threat can cause a sell out of rental cars across Europe. We will see. On another hand. German ground crew at Frankfurt Int. Will have a union meeting Monday. Highly possible they will just down tools without notice.

Update:-Sunday 9 October On Lufthansa site today. Flight disruption to be expected on Monday afternoon in Germany. Due to employee meetings at several German airports flight disruption are expected on Monday afternoon.


Now for France. A strike warning is in effect for Monday evening through to Wednesday morning by air traffic controllers. Best call your airline. Maybe all hype. Looking anxiously for more info.

UK Just about everyone or anybody is being balloted.

Greece planned strike for the 18 Oct. ATC joining in.

Qantas Airways is still kicking up. Friday baggage handlers scheduled strike was cancelled after management had re-scheduled thousands of passengers world wide. Oh yes, don't forget a death treat to the company head.

Spanish national airline Iberia announced new subsidiary "Iberia Express" to come into service next summer. Iberian pilots state it's illegal and threaten strike. Get ready for a nasty long drawn out show down. Do not book with them for November, December, New Year or Easter 2011. You will certainly get delayed or even worse loose your money.

Air Canada still waiting for flight attendants to accept a deal.

Leave early if using Toronto Int. security go slow.

Thomas Cook staff being balloted.

Icelandair Not up to date yet, but flight attendants were/are to strike this Monday.

Flying into Beirut, Lebanon or leaving nationwide general strike planned for 12 Oct.

Monday morning email two new Greek air traffic controllers strikes

Air Canada flight attendants ballot results due in 9/10 October.


Australian unions calling this summer "summer of discontent"
Qantas industrial action causing delays around the globe.
Queensland Railway threaten strike, no date set yet.

Quarantine and customs agents periodic strikes causing delays in screening. Last weeks customs strikes caused three hour delays for foreigners entering Australia. Citizens no delays entering.


PAL out of the Philippines still reeling in industrial action.

The French are uncharacteristically quiet.

German ATC dispute, issue still up in the air.

Bulgaria, train strike Oct/Nov promised. Should know more today, Monday. Will effect international trains to Greece.

Greece two more air traffic controllers strike 5 and 19 October. Both Wednesdays. Most likely Borders, customs, taxi and public transport will join in.
Looking for information on ports. How pray tell does Greece get a 10% increase of tourists July?

Our Thanksgiving (24 November) and Christmas 2011 party poopers list.

Bets are on Liat airlines out of the Caribbean. Anyone else got any predictions?


Italy no general strike.
When you come into work today Italian public transport strike, 24 hours started 00.01. Some trains and buses are running in the country. Trying to get a taxi today is going to be a lost cause. Traffic jams.
Another 2 train (one 24 hours) and one public transport strike coming Oct and Nov.


Lebanon. Flying into Beirut? 12 Oct, expect delays, nationwide general strike planned. Middle East Airlines will be effected. Expected to pay premium for a taxi.

Portugal. Austerity measures starting to sink in. Will you refer holiday makers next summer? 20-27 October unions will cause disruptions. Nothing set yet.

Spain's Air Europa minimal disruptions so far, but will escalate.

UK unions threaten. Gatwick Express balloting.

This week.
Regarding plans for disruptions for Thanksgiving 24 November and Christmas 2011.
Bets are on Liat airlines out of the Caribbean. Anyone else got any predictions?
Italian rail strike Nov. 26.

Airlines
Qantas in full grip of industrial action. Australian customs and quarantine agents will strike Tuesday, causing delays in screening..
Air Canada issue not yet over, attendants still have to give the thumbs up. Shortly.
Spain's Air Europa minimal disruptions so far, but will escalate.

Country
Bulgaria, train strike Oct/Nov promised.
The French are uncharacteristically quiet.
German ATC dispute, issue still up in the air.
Greece of course, ATC on continuous go slow. Athens made difficult to maneuver around. Locals getting to work by scooter. Customs and border guards joining in occasionally.
Italy no general strike. 2 train and one public transport strike coming Oct and Nov.
Macedonia ATC issue fizzled.
Spain has a train strike this coming week. Will effect high speed rail. Minimal disruption unless your on the receiving end of course. Cancelling a quarter of trains.

Greek Taxi and Air France pilots and flight attendants all good to go

Morning All
Back from holiday. Raring to go, full of enthusiasm.

French pilot and flight attendants strikes both cancelled. Air France engineers are still on strike.

Greek taxi drivers are still striking but not blocking roads, tolls and ports. Greek ferries state they will not strike till perhaps after August.

Air Garuda Indonesia pilots will strike this week. Fiji/Qantas may find delays. Qantas pilots still in the news.

Greece air traffic controllers, Uk nationwide strike

Wake up. Good Morning,
Yes your worst nightmare Greek Air Traffic Controllers will strike this Tues and Wed 8-noon and 6-1opm both days, local time. Sill looking for Greek ferry information.

UK national strike. Still looking for more info regarding airport delays and Eurostar. Anyone?
One strike to keep an eye on is Scottish airports possible strike next month.
Virgin Atlantic something should come out today or in the week for sure. Fingers crossed Branson comes up with a fix.

France
Air France mechanics are still out. Minor if any delays. It's been two weeks now with no maintenance?

Hungary Public transport strike June 29

Icelandair pilot strike this weekend, still on perhaps.

Ireland
Aer Lingus perhaps a notice coming 1 July

Netherlands Public transport strike 29 June, in court now.

Spanish unions are threaten a general strike, no date set.
Iberia relations really strained with pilots, new meeting 30 June.

Air India, just don't bother. India has three major strikes coming.

Australia
Customs and Immigration strike treat, no date set. Ash cloud causing delays still.
Peru and Paraguay problems.
Chile volcano, ash over Argentina, still?

Good Morning
Londoners wake up to Tube strike this am. May effect getting to Wimbledon. More Tube strikes to come.
Heathrow Express strike called same time as Tube strike.
Largest strike since 1926 coming June 30. ATC not joining in. Immigration and customs will be striking all points of entry up the chute.
One strike to keep an eye on is Scottish airports possible strike next month.
BA final strike vote due in 30 June.
France
Rail strike in Paris today Monday Minor.
Air France mechanics are still out.
Greece
Expecting something as second bail out is coming.
Hungary Public transport strike June 29
Ireland
Aer Lingus perhaps a notice coming 1 July
Italy
Train strike was 23 June, not sure if its still on or not.
Rome baggage handlers were on strike yesterday, Sunday.

Update

Aer Lingus postpone strike till July 1

Travel disruptions June 2011

Morning,
For this coming week we have:-
Aer Lingus strike starting 7 June Tuesday.
Tap Air Portugal several dates in June and July for industrial action.
Liat Airlines from Antigua threatening. This airline is a little time bomb, you never know what they will throw in the mix. Can really screw up peoples plans via catching planes on mainland etc.
No changes in Air Canada, Qantas and Virgin Atlantic situation, still threatening.
Spain rumours that delays out of Madrid by bad weather are phoney and that T4 (I think) where Iberia airlines is based out have severe delays daily.
First Spanish air traffic controller from 2010 industrial action charged, feel bad about that.
Portugal trains sporadic strikes.
Heathrow Express will strike again later in the month.
Rome, several taxi strikes. Italy has several public transport strikes this month.
London underground rumblings.
Air Canada and Qantas still in tense negotiations

Israel trains possible strike July
Egyptian air traffic controllers strike this week
Greece several new dates mentioned for industrial action.

Jamaica air traffic control were on strike this past week, issue has not been resolved.
